Achievements of Protective Behaviours volunteers in Southern Africa

  • Heartreach Gauteng – delivering PB to primary schools in Randburg
  • Being translated into Xhosa, Afrikaans, and currently negotiating Zulu translation
  • 21 catholic schools in the Eastern Cape and were able to present the Protective Behaviours workshop to 8900 children
  • Social Workers from CMR offices in the east rand are using PB with their clients
  • and soon in Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana
  • Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers and Child Trauma Therapists are applying the strategies in their private practices, with children and families
  • More than 300 mental health professionals in Eastern Cape received 2-hours of training
  • Gauteng Dept of Education – 35 school psychologists and social workers are using PB in schools in Gauteng
  • East Rand PB team have presented PB to over 3000 children on the East Rand in schools and trained the staff of 4 pre schools and 4 Primary Schools
  • 445 professionals completed Level 1 training
  • 580 attended information sessions
  • SAPSAC recommended that PB goes into primary schools
  • Presentation at SAPROF  against child abuse July 2012, Pretoria:  350 delegates
  • PB aired on ENCA news on the 29th May 2017
